Sin embargo, su actuación fué considerada de gran calidad.<br /> Helen Fielding ha declarado en varias entrevistas que su novela está basada en el trabajo de <i><b>Jane Austen </b>en<b> Orgullo y Prejuicio</b></i> y su popular adaptación de la BBC en 1995. Esto también se vio reflejado cuando <i style="color: red;"><b>Colin Firth fue elegido como Mark Darcy</b></i>, ya que él interpretó al Sr. Darcy "real" en la adaptación de la obra de Austen.<br /> La directora de la película, Sharon Maguire, es amiga de Fielding, es por eso que el personaje de "Shazzer" está basado en ella. Este personaje fue interpretado por Sally Philips, quién optó al papel de Bridget, pero fue rechazada por no ser lo suficientemente famosa. Kate Winslet también se presentó al casting de Bridget y fue considerada para interpretarlo, pero después fué descartada dado que era demasiado joven (25 en el momento de la audición) para interpretar a Bridget.<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both;
